Computing

At Gosforth Park, our computing curriculum is designed to empower our pupils from Nursery to Year 4 with the confidence, creativity, challenge and community-centered skills they need to become successful digital citizens in today's world.

Our curriculum is driven by the belief that every child can become a capable and confident digital creator, innovator, and communicator. We aim to provide a solid foundation in computer science, information technology, and digital literacy skills that will help our pupils understand and navigate the digital world with confidence.

We believe in fostering creativity through the use of digital tools and encouraging children to experiment and express themselves through computing. We want our pupils to be able to harness the power of technology to solve problems and make a positive impact on their community.

Our curriculum is designed to challenge pupils at every level of their computing journey, encouraging them to push themselves to achieve their full potential. We want our pupils to be resilient problem-solvers who are not afraid to try new things and learn from their mistakes.

Online Safety is a core aspect of our computing curriculum. We believe that it is essential to teach our pupils about online safety, including how to protect their personal information, identify and report online bullying, and understand the potential risks of online communication. We teach our pupils to be responsible digital citizens who can use technology safely and respectfully.

We believe in building a strong sense of community through our computing curriculum. We encourage collaboration, communication, and teamwork, and we strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all pupils feel valued and respected.

Below is our sequence of knowledge and the milestones that our children will be assessed against at each stage:
