General Information
School Dinners
School dinners are paid for weekly on a Monday morning (next day if a training day) or by the half term. Costs are in the school newsletter and are available from the School Office. Please send your cash or cheque in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and class to avoid it being lost. A week’s notice is required if you wish your child to change from dinner to packed lunch or packed lunch to dinner as the cook orders her food stocks in advance.
Free School - Meals Reception to Year 2
All children from Reception to year 2 children are entitled to a free school meal. Forms are issued from the school office.
Uniform
Tots to Teams at Kingston Park sell our uniform. They are open all year round except for bank holidays and until 12 noon on a Saturday. A uniform flyer is available from School Office or phone Tots to Teams on 0191 271 5454.
Text Messaging
This facility allows us to text to one mobile number per family and it will be the 1st contact as stated on your GPFS enrolment form unless you advise the school office otherwise.
Change of Address/Circumstances
Please inform the School Office if you have moved house or changed your mobile phone number. It is important we have the correct phone numbers in case your child is ill and we need to contact you.
Friends of Gosforth Park First School PTA
We have a lovely group of parents who help to run
The Friends of GPFS PTA. If you wish to come along to a meeting and help at any events. Please leave your details with the School Office.
Parent/Carer Helpers – Police Clearance
The school office has DBS forms available. If you could let Mrs Lamb or your child’s teacher know when you would be available to help.
SCHOOL DAY
Nursery AM 8:50 am to 11:50 am
Nursery PM 12:30 pm to 3:30pm
Reception 8:55 am to 3:25pm
REQUEST FOR PUPIL ABSENCE.
Holidays in term time are not permitted. The amendments make clear that Head teachers may not grant any leave of absence unless there are exceptional circumstances, note leave, not holiday. The regulations also set out procedures for issuing penalty notices (fines) to each parent who fails to ensure their children’s regular attendance at school. You must see Mrs Lambto discuss absence from school.
Absence from School - illness
If your child is absent please phone school to advise us on the first day of the absence. You can leave a message on the absence line. Please state your child’s name, class and reason for absence. It is important to give a reason so we are able to monitor illness within school. All attendance is closely monitored.
Other Absence from School
Any other absence has to be granted by Mrs Lamb.
Late
If you are late please report to the school office to make sure your child is marked in the register.
Medical – Doctors/Hospital Appointments.
If your child needs to go to the doctors or has a hospital appointment the school office is authorised by Mrs Lambto issue a pass. Please come to the school office a couple of days before the appointment for a pass.
Sickness/Diarrhoea
If you child is sick. Please keep them off school for 48 hours from the last time they were sick or had diarrhoea. This prevents the spread of the illness. This information comes from the Health Authority. Please check with the School Office.
Medication in School
To support children school continues to administer prescribed medication. If your child requires any medicine – including inhalers this must be labelled with a doctor’s prescription. Please complete a medicine consent form at the School Office. If your child requires 4 doses a day. School can administer one at lunchtime. (Breakfast, lunchtime, teatime and bedtime covers 4 doses). Medicine must be passed to and from the office by an adult.
Newsletter - This is emailed each Friday. Paper copies are available from the School Office.
If, as a parent of a pupil attending this school, you require a paper copy of the information on this website, we shall provide this free of charge.
